At the March 8 Gardnerville Knights of Columbus general meeting, Douglas County Sheriff Ron Pierini was presented with a check for $1,800, raised during the Feb. 24 bingo night in memory of police dog, Jon-Jon.
Sheriff Perini told the knights at the meeting that this donation along with several others will be used to procure three much-needed replacements in the canine unit. A record crowd participated at the special bingo night, with more than 170 players in attendance and the knights want to thank the community for supporting this worthwhile event.
Knights Bingo Nights are held twice a month and the next games will be on March 10 and March 24. Doors open at 6 p.m. and play starts at 7 p.m. at the St. Gall Catholic Church Pastoral Center.
