Eight of the 10 Douglas Wildcat wrestlers who competed in the Reed Folkstyle SWA youth wrestling tournament earned medals Sunday.
Sullivan Cauley continued his unbeaten streak in the midget (8-9) division at 87 pounds, winning gold while Garrett Hekhuis earned silver at 110 pounds in the cadet (14-15) division.
Bronze medalists included Michael Sepulveda at 115 pounds and bantam Colt Thurston at 65 pounds, bantam Ryan Taylor at 50 pounds and bantam Tahoma Smokey at 90 pounds. Robert Franklin placed fourth in the schoolboy division (12-13) at 130 pounds.
On Saturday, Connor Pierce also placed first in freestyle and second in Greco-Roman wrestling at the Reed Tournament.
Hekhuis took second in freestyle while novice (10-11) grappler Nick Scott took third at 90 pounds. Taylor placed fifth in the bantam division at 50 pounds.
The Wildcats are gearing up for the USA State Wrestling Tournament this weekend at Spanish Springs.
Wrestling starts today and continues throughout the weekend.
