A Minden man was jailed March 11 on $3,000 bail accused of throwing a vacuum cleaner attachment at his 83-year-old mother and cutting her head.
Deputies said they were called four times within 36 hours to the Wade Street residence of Eugene Whitney King and his mother.
They arrested King on a charge of domestic battery after they discovered the victim had a 1-1/2-inch cut on the left side of her forehead.
The victim said she asked King to vacuum and he became angry.
n A 49-year-old transient was arrested March 12 with a blood-alcohol content nearly four times the legal limit for driving in Nevada.
Rexford Dean Belshaw, Jr., was arrested at Tillman and Langley in the Gardnerville Ranchos after a deputy on patrol noticed his vehicle had a bighorn sheep Nevada license plate which is no longer legal.
He discovered that Belshaw had three previous driving under the influence convictions and was driving with a suspended driver's license in addition to the illegal plate.
His blood-alcohol content was .317. The legal limit for driving in Nevada is .08.
n An 18-year-old Gardnerville Ranchos teen was arrested March 10 at his residence after he tackled two deputies who were called to the home on the report of a fight.
Sparky Ron Lopez, 18, was charged with battery on an officer, minor consuming alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia.
When a third deputy arrived at the address, he saw two officers on the ground with Lopez.
Lopez was jailed on $2,500 cash bail. Another 18-year-old at the residence was cited for minor consuming. His blood-alcohol content was .266, more than three times the legal limit of .08 for driving in Nevada.
Deputies called his brother who gave him a ride home.
n Deputies are investigating a March 13 burglary at Russell Mercantile in Minden.
Owners arrived at the bakery early in the morning to discover the cash register on the floor.
Burglars pried open the cash register and took nearly $500, according to reports.
Entry was gained through a rear window, deputies said.
