n Amateur Radio Classes. SIERA is offering amateur radio classes every Friday evening from 6:30-9 p.m. March 31 through May 19. Cost for the class is free but a textbook "Now You're Talking" fifth edition, is necessary and can be ordered online www.arrl.org for $19.95 plus shipping and handling or can be pre-ordered through SIERA. The classes will be held at Carson Valley Methodist Church, 1375 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville. FCC exams will be held on May 20. Those who pass will become licensed amateur radio operators.
n Spring Break for Valley elementary schools is coming up soon. Tumbleweeds Gymnastics will be offering two exciting Spring-Fun Camps to chase those winter blues away. Week one is April 3-7 and week two is April 10-14. Camp hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some camp activities include: crafts, games, snacks, daily field trips, movies, swimming, bowling and lots of gymnastics. The cost is $155 for one week or $35 per day with a 10 percent multiple-child discount. Tumbleweed's camps are open to all children, members and non-members, ages 4 to 12 years.
