Easter services at Valley churches

Trinity Lutheran Church, 1480 Douglas Ave., Gardnerville, will celebrate the Passion according to Saint Mark on Sunday, April 9 with Festive Holy Eucharist at 8 a.m. and 10:45 a.m., followed by Christian education for all at 9:30 a.m.


Maundy Thursday Liturgy with First Communions and the Stripping of the Altar and Sanctuary is April 13 at 7 p.m.


On Good Friday, April 14, is a gathering for the Good Friday Service at midday, which celebrates the Seven Last Words of Jesus Christ from the cross. At 7 p.m. is the Good Friday service which celebrates the Passion of our Lord according to Saint John.


"Sierra Spirit" contemporary service will take place on Holy Saturday at 5:30 p.m.


Easter Sunday - 7:45 a.m. the First Easter Liturgy is celebrated followed by an Easter continental breakfast at 9:15 a.m. in the Parish Hall and child care center. At 10:45 a.m. the Second Easter Liturgy is celebrated. Both services are with Holy Eucharist.

High Sierra Fellowship




High Sierra Fellowship non-denominational Good Friday services will be held at noon Friday, April 14, in the Minden Park. Pastor Rich Lammay will speak on "The Passion of the Christ." This annual service is designed to worship during the lunch hour, dress is casual, and bringing a lunch is acceptable. The service should last about 45 minutes.


Easter services will be 7 p.m. Saturday, April 15 and 9:30 a.m. Sunday, April 16. There will be special music, communion and a "Resurrection day" message given by Pastor Rich Lammay.

Carson Valley Christian Center




Carson Valley Christian Center, 1095 Stephanie Way, will have seven services Easter weekend - Friday, April 14 at 6 and 7:30 p.m., Saturday, April 15 at 4:30 and 6 p.m. and Sunday, April 16 at 8, 9:30 and 11a.m.

Coventry Cross Episcopal Church




Easter week begins with distribution of palms and reading of the Passion on Palm Sunday, April 9, at the 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. services. At the Maundy Thursday service, April 13, will be Stations of the Cross at 7 p.m. Good Friday service will be held April 14 at 7 p.m. Easter Sunday services will be 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. There will be a light brunch between services served by members of the Women's Guild. An Easter egg hunt provided by and for the church school will follow the 10 a.m. service. Coventry Cross Episcopal Church is located at 1631 Esmeralda Place in Minden. Carson Valley United Methodist Church




The congregation of the Carson Valley United Methodist Church would like to invite all members of the community to join them for the upcoming Holy Week activities. On April 13, Maundy Thursday, at 7 p.m. a Readers' Theater program titled "The Last Supper" will be presented. The Chancel Choir will sing, and communion will be celebrated.


On April 14, Good Friday, a self-guided meditation will be offered in the sanctuary from noon to 3 p.m. At 7 p.m., a Readers' Theater program titled "The Last Words" will be presented. The Chancel Choir will sing, and the evening will conclude with a liturgical dance performance.


Easter Sunday, April 16, will have Sunrise Service at 6 a.m., outside at the cross. At 8:30 and 10 a.m., traditional services of worship will be offered, with another liturgical dance being performed, and the Chancel Choir presenting "Who Is This King?", a cantata by Lloyd Larson and Joseph M. Martin.

St. Gall Catholic Church




St. Gall Catholic Church, 1343 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville has scheduled the following events in celebration of Easter.


On April 6, Lenten "reconciliation service" will be 7 p.m. Passion/Palm Sunday masses follow the regular weekend schedule. Plan to gather in front of the church to begin mass and bless palms.


Starting Saturday, April 8 from noon to 7:30 p.m. the labyrinth will be set up in the pastoral center with the following days and times: April 9 from 9 a.m. to noon and 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., April 10-12 from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. and April 13 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Holy Thursday/Mandatum April 13 at 7 p.m.


Good Friday/Veneration of the Cross April 14 at 7 p.m. Holy Saturday/Vigil of Easter, April 15 at 7 p.m. plan to gather in front of the church to begin mass and bless the Easter fire.


There will be no 5 p.m. mass and 6:30 p.m. Spanish mass.


Easter Sunday April 16, sunrise mass of the resurrection 6 a.m., (in the church and pastoral center) mass of the resurrection 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.


There will be no 5 p.m. "spirit mass."
