The Record-Courier Publisher Janet Geary accepted a pastel painting created by Linda Townsend in a presentation at the Carson Valley Art Association monthly meeting, Friday.
Every year the CVAA gives a piece of art created by a member to a business in the Valley as a way of recognizing its contributions to the community.
Upcoming events to plan for:
n During the meeting, Nancy Kilburg reminded the membership of the up-and-coming miniature show which will begin May 16 at the East Fork Gallery in Gardnerville. Mark Thompkins will be the judge for this event.
n Applications for the CVAA Art Scholarships will go out to local high schools for students, interested in pursuing a career in the arts or art related fields. The deadline for submission to CVAA for the scholarships will be May 1.
n The Carson Valley Days Art Show at the CVIC Hall is planned for June 9-11 with an opening reception, 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 9. Start planning your entries now for this show.
n For the second year, CVAA will join with Nevada Art Association for an art show and sale at Carson Valley Inn, July 3 and 4. This year there will be a Minden section for artwork that is specifically Minden scenes in honor of the Minden Centennial that will begin in July.
After the regular meeting, Arlene Origoni demonstrated her techniques and materials she uses to create her pastel paintings.
