The Carson Valley Food Closet and the Family Support Council of Douglas County are hosting an open house 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 1255 Waterloo Lane. The two tenants of the Hussman Building are celebrating their 10th anniversary in the one-story building.

The Hussman family of Gardnerville donated the land in 1996. Through grant money and local donations the building was constructed. Since that time the community has been served by the Food Closet and the Family Support Council.

The open house is an opportunity to invite the community to visit these two vital services. Please plan to visit both facilities. The Food Closet will be selling rubber ducks for the Wacky Waddlers Wiver Wace in June. The annual fundraiser takes place at Lampe Park where the rubber ducks float down the river to the finish line. Contact Food Closet Director Eileen Boettiger at 782-3711 or Teri Clark, parent educator at 782-8692 for details.
