Boys' golf finishes in seventh place

The Douglas boys' golf team wrapped up a successful rebuilding season Thursday at the the Northern 4A Regional championships in Elko, taking seventh as a team.


The Tigers, who had no seniors on their roster this season, were led by Eric Guzman who shot a 166 over the two-day tournament to take 30th.


Troy Shields finished tied for 36th with a 172 and Reese Kizer finished 42nd with a 176.


Devon McCole shot a 183 and Wes Haskell shot a 185 to round out the Tigers' card.


Fallon won the team championship with a 763. Galena came in second with a 779, Spanish Springs took third with a 792, Elko took fourth with a 797 and Carson took fifth with an 806.


Reno, Douglas and South Tahoe rounded out the standings in order.


Fallon's Scott Smith won the individual title with a 144 and Carson's J.T. Cockerill tied for second with Galena's Trent Hays and Fallon's Andy Hicks.
