The Douglas boys' swim team used a solid all-around performance Saturday to take third place at the Northern 4A Regional Championships.
The girls' team came in a respectable sixth. As a whole Douglas was only able to send two athletes on to the state meet, although several swimmers just narrowly missed the cut.
Josefina Sigala took third in the girls' 100 breaststroke to qualify for state with a time of 1:12.18 and Ryan Fore took third in boys' diving with a score of 369.75.
The boys' 400 free relay team of Marco Hyman, Ben Weiss, Blake Maxwell and Taylor Brockway took fourth with a time of 3:41.44 and the girls' 400 free relay team of Sara Sigala, Kaylee Hames, Katie O'Neill and Josefina Sigala took fourth with a time of 3:54.96.
Taylor Brockway and Marco Hyman each just missed the cut for state, taking fifth and sixth respectively in the 500 free and the girls' relay squad of O'Neill, Whitney Simpson and the Sigalas took sixth in the 200 medley.
The boys' 200 medley team of Hyman, Paul Von, James Barnard and Holden Sapp took seventh with a time of 1:56.61 and Brockway took sixth in the 200 free. The boys' 200 free team of Barnard, Maxwell, Weiss and Brockway also took seventh with a time of 1:40.92.
Josefina Sigala took seventh in the 100 free with a time of 57.77 and Hyman took seventh in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:03.95.
Mandy Moore took 13th in the 200 free, Sean Vogl took 11th in the 100 backstroke and Von took 10th in the 100 breaststroke.
The top three in each event advanced onto the state finals, scheduled for this weekend.
