BASEBALL


Shawn Estes, P, San Diego Padres: Currently on the 15-day disabled list.


Chris Honer, Rfr., P, Point Loma: Season over. Honer finished the year with a 3.97 ERA and 4-2 record in seven starts and 16 appearances. He pitched 47 innings and struck out 24 batters with a .240 average against.


Tommy Hoyle, jr., P, Mesa State: Struck out one and allowed two runs in an inning of relief in a 13-7 win over New Mexica Highlands.


Cal Lewis, jr., 3B, South Dakota State: Stats not available last week.


Bryan Miller, soph., OF, Mesa College: Miller was voted the Mesa team MVP last week. The Thunderbirds wrapped up the year ranked No. 1 in the country. Mesa travels to Kansas this week for the NJCAA super regional tournament. The winner there gets to play in the NCJAA II World Series in Millington Tennessee.


Chad Walling, fr., OF/INF/P, Western Nevada: Scored a run in the Wildcats' 9-1 win over Salt Lake in the first round of the Scenic West Athletic Conference tournament. He also went 1-for-4 with a run scored in a 4-3 loss to Southern Idaho.


Jimmy Pierce, fr., INF, Western Nevada: Did not play.

SOFTBALL


Kristy Olsen, soph., 3B/OF, Iowa State: Season over. Olsen was named to the Big 12 All-Academic first team last week. She batted .278 on the year with 30 hits, four RBIs and five stolen bases.


Brittany Puzey, fr., OF, Nevada: Nevada won the WAC title over the weekend, clinching a spot in the NCAA tournament.


Kaycee Wilcks, soph., OF, Nevada: Nevada won the WAC title over the weekend, clinching a spot in the NCAA tournament. The Wolf Pack takes on Oregon State Friday in a matchup that will pit Wilcks against her cousin, Brianne McGowan.


Valerie Smith, fr., C, Columbia: Smith received an All-Ivy League honorable mention at catcher. Smith batted .291 on the year with six doubles and a team-leading five home runs. She also led the team with 26 RBIs and a .440 slugging percentage.
