The Dance Workshop dancers competed May 20 in Las Vegas in a large regional dance competition. The Dance Workshop brought five pieces to compete and brought home 10 trophies.
They competed with a tap routine to "Boogie Wonderland" which received a high first award in a tap category and also placed eighth overall for the tap dances in the competition. They also received the "Al Gilbert Award" which is an honor in the world of tap dancing.
They competed in the hip hop division with "Whistle and Blow" and won a high first place as well as eighth overall in the hip hop division.
In jazz, the girls won a high first and first place overall for a large group with a piece by Mozart. They also took high first for both of their entered pieces, "Sweet Dreams" and "Blackbird" and first and second place overall for the 16 and older category.
Director Ann Peters said, "I'm so proud of our dancers. All of the dancers here were from large competition studios in Las Vegas and our little studio from Minden won more then their share of big awards."
