Ralph Daryl Smith
1941-2006
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Carson Valley United Methodist Church in Gardnerville, for Ralph Daryl Smith, 65, who died Oct. 27, 2006, in Reno.
Mr. Smith was born April 26, 1941, in Maywood, Calif., and raised by his stepfather, Gomer Hyrum Smith and his mother Rita Mae Smith. He retired as a building coordinator for Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and served in the U.S. Navy from 1960-1964. He lived in Livermore, Calif., until moving to Gardnerville six years ago. He volunteered with the Douglas County Citizen's Patrol and was a member of the Carson Valley Sertoma. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather Gomer H. Smith. He is survived by his wife Patricia D. Smith of Gardnerville; daughters Milena Armbruster and husband Tim of Livermore, Calif., Suzanne Burton and husband Jeff of Valecito, Calif., stepchildren Mike MacDonald and wife Allisha of Tracy, Calif., Heather Ludwig and husband Mike of Stockton, Calif. and Kristina Ortizdevillate and husband Al of Visalia, Calif. He was also survived by his mother Rita Mae Smith, sisters Betty Duarte of Tooele, Utah, Sue LaMance and husband Don of Gresham, Ore., Gail Neely and husband Jeff of Yucaipa, Calif, as well as 13 grandchildren.
Arrangements are in the care of Walton's Douglas County Mortuary in Minden. Cremation to take place at Walton's Sierra Crematory in Carson City. Memorial donations can be made to disabled veterans or a favorite charity of your choice.
Danny Wirawan
1972-2006
A funeral service is 1 p.m. Saturday at FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home in Gardnerville for Danny Wirawan, 34, who died Oct. 24, 2006, at Renown Medical Center in Reno.
Mr. Wirawan was born Jan. 2, 1972, in Jakarta, Indonesia, to Fong Min Sin and Winawati Fadjar. He had a bachelors degree in electronic engineering. He moved from Jakarta to upstate New York in 2001 to work in the engineering field and then moved to Minden in 2003 where he was one of the founding members of the Company Steam Turbine Blading and Parts as the quality control engineer manager. In his spare time he enjoyed anything electronic, photography and was always interested in doing new things. He also frequented "Never Enough Ballroom" dancing at St. Gall Catholic Church.
He is survived by his mother Winawati Fadjar of Jakarta, Indonesia; his sisters Fonny Wirawati of Fadjar (UK); Wenny Widyawati of Fadjar, (UK); Yenny Irawati of Jakarta, Indonesia; brother-in-laws Djonny Hermanto of UK, Danny Chen of Los Angeles, Calif. and Sudirman of Jakarta, Indonesia as well as one niece and two nephews.
Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home in Gardnerville. A viewing will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home. Cremation to take place at FitzHenry's Crematory in Carson City.
