Local artists place in annual show

The Nevada Artists Association presents the 56th annual Nevada Days Art Exhibit through Dec. 8 at the Brewery Arts Center Art Gallery, 449 West King Street in Carson City (corner of Division and King streets). The works were judged by Jan Rollenhagen.


Featured are original artworks in oils, pastels, watercolors, mixed media and miniatures. Many of the award-winning works were produced by Carson Valley artists. "The Carson," an oil painting on canvas painted by Jo Linda Smith which was awarded best of show. "In Genoa" an acrylic painting by Gardnerville resident, Ric Rose, was chosen to receive the Spirit of Nevada award.

Acrylics


First place "Nevada's Oldest Red Barn," Kirah Van Sickle; second place "Free Spirit," Pam Brekas; third place "Oregon Coast View," Al Darden; honorable mentions "My Hydranga," Betty Gilman and "The Mystery Rock," Lee Netzel.


Pastels


First place "Early Evening Mountain Street," Dorrine Sadelik; second place "Redemption," Linda Walker; third place "Where the Pony Lived," Lillian Altherton; honorable mentions "Down Six Mile Canyon," Carol Karah, "St. Mary's Church," Helen Fanning and "Sweet Dreams," Lee Netzel.

Mixed media


First place "Precious Cargo," Pam Brekas; second place "Precipici," Ann Cameron; third place "Yarrow," Ann Armijo; and honorable mention "Guerrero," Wendy Sohn.
