An 18-year-old Gardnerville resident was sentenced Monday to five years in Nevada State Prison for his part in a burglary ring that targeted Gardnerville Ranchos residences. Timothy Morgan must serve 13 months before he is eligible for parole. He also was ordered to pay $41,809 restitution along with the codefendants.

A 25-year-old South Lake Tahoe man who sold a quarter-ounce of methamphetamine to a confidential informant was sentenced Monday to nine months in Douglas County Jail for his part in the transaction.

District Judge Michael Gibbons sentenced Jose Castro to three years in prison, suspended, and placed him on three years probation.

The Douglas cross-country program had a phenomenally successful weekend at the state championships in Boulder City as junior Whitney Lindsey took fifth and sophomore Taylor Biaggi took eighth. Reno won the team championship and the Huskies' Marie Lawrence won the individual title.

The Damonte Ranch volleyball team proved to be just too much for the Douglas Tigers Saturday, beat Douglas in four games to advance to the Northern 4A Regional championship game at Galena.

Damonte later defeated Reno for the regional title.
