More than a quarter of Douglas County's voters have already cast their ballots.
In all 6,672 voters cast ballots early, including 717 on Friday. Douglas County Clerk-Treasurer Barbara Griffin said the office has sent out 2,059 absentee ballots and had already received 1,654 back. More ballots will arrive today and Tuesday.
"We have every indication that we'll have a good turnout tomorrow," Griffin said. "The weather looks like it will cooperate, the polls will be open for 12 hours and we certainly hope people will come out to vote."
Griffin said there will be about 150 people ready to help voters cast their ballots on Tuesday.
The Douglas High School Fighting Tiger band continues to rack up first place awards. The marching band was named the Nevada State Champions in the medium band division at the University of Nevada, Reno, Sierra Band Crusade competition Nov. 4. The band brought home four more trophies: a first place in their band classification and trophies for first rankings in flags, woodwinds and percussion.
Two Gardnerville siblings were honored by Gov. Kenny Guinn by being named finalists for the Points of Light Award in Las Vegas on Nov. 2. Jeff and Racheal Lambin, both Gardnerville residents, are two of the finalists for the rural category. Nancy Maslach and Tonopah is the third finalist.
