Election Day is finally here.

It is this day that Americans exercise their right, duty and obligation to vote. Any other day, there are those in charge and the rest of us. But today every person who sets foot in a voting booth is in charge.

Election results will be available on recordcourier.com as we get them. The first blast should be early voting which will arrive not long after the polls close at 7 p.m.

Construction will continue in Gardnerville tonight, closing Highway 395 down to one lane each direction for utility work. Work begins at 9 p.m. Tuesday and will continue until 5:30 a.m. Wednesday. Work will wrap up at 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation.

There is a light fog down along the river and the barometer is dropping.

The National Weather Service has backed off of their predictions that this latest storm is going to do much but blow through the Valley. Winds will be gusting into the 20s today and Wednesday. The chance of precipitation has dropped to 10 percent. Now it looks like it will be Saturday before any moisture hits.
