The U12 girls' division in the Kit Carson Shootout has belonged to Carson Valley AYSO for about the last six years.
Not much changed this year as the Carson Valley Eliminators claimed the title in the division with a 14-1 goal differential over four games in the annual regional all-star competition.
The Eliminators beat the Carson Punishment 3-1 in the tournament championship, powered by three goals from Alexis Weaver.
Carson Valley exhibited a strong defense all weekend, posting shutouts in its first three games.
"The girls were pretty excited," coach Vince Weaver said. "They work hard from the time they get selected to the all-star team. We go about four or five nights a week for two weeks leading up to the tournament.
"They played very well as a team once the tournament started."
The Eliminators' roster included Aspen Abbott, Alex Melandow, Kinsey Bell, Illiana Brown, Marissa Cowan, Kassidy Freitas, April Hoogendijk, Courtney McKimmey, Kelsie Meher, Alex Melandow, Molly Offarrel, Savanah Robertson, Natalie Roberts, Kelly Tompkins, Camry Varble and Alexis Weaver.
The team was coached by Vince Weaver and Dave Bell.
The U-14 all-stars from Carson Valley took second place at the shootout.
"The girls all played well in a very closely-matched bracket," assistant coach Ralph Johnson said. "It was a great weekend. The girls performed beyond our expectations, allowing only two goals to be scored against them."
On Saturday, the team beat Truckee 2-0 and Mammoth 1-0. On Sunday morning, they bet Incline Village 2-1 to advance to the championship game, where they lost to Bishop 1-0.
Team members included Taryn Olivera, Heidi Schefcik, Erica Macias, Cynthia Macias, Carly McCullough, Kassie Dunlop, Jennifer Gorton and Naomi Roberts.
The team was coached by Mike Killian and assisted by Johnson.
Carson Valley's U10 team, the Tigerettes, took third in the tournament, winning their final game 3-0 over Bishop.
Team members included Kaycee Batcher, Madison Ryan, Maddy Lowe, Alissa Holley, Carmen Shaw, Hannah Schweigert, Holland Chambers, Samantha Crawford, Annika Sikora, Mandy Weaver, Loisa Landolt, Ashley Melandow and Ashley Hellwinkel.
Fritz Schweigert coached the team.
The U10 boys also took second in their division.
