Newspaper photographer presents talk on new book

The Douglas County Public Library in Minden is presenting a book signing and slide show with Reno Gazette-Journal photographer Marilyn Newton at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Newton's new book "Alkali Angels," is a historical and photographic project documenting Nevada's remarkable cemeteries.

Newton has been with the Reno Gazette-Journal since 1963. Within a week of starting work with the Reno Evening Gazette, she wrote her first front page story. Six months later she was packing a camera. Newton has published three books and has earned numerous awards for her photography. Light refreshments will be served.
