A high wind warning for this morning was delayed until this afternoon by the National Weather Service.
High winds are expected to hit 15-30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph this afternoon, accelerating to 30-45 mph with gusts of 60 mph by early evening.
The warning is in effect until 4 a.m. Tuesday.
The Weather Service is warning high-profile vehicles to use caution on north-south routes.
Plans to conduct a prescribed burn near Indian Creek reservoir in Alpine County have been delayed until spring by the Bureau of Land Management.
The area has not experienced precipitation in more than 90 days before Oct. 10, which did not increase moisture into range until Oct. 16. That and strong winds and rain predicted for the next week, contributed to the cancellation.
A bear trap set in Genoa has been pulled after its intended customer failed to take the bait.
Carl Lackey of the Nevada Division of Wildlife, said he has not had any further bear complaints in the town at the base of the Sierra, and has decided to remove the trap.
