The R-C Morning Report

Douglas County planning commissioners refused to approve a master plan amendment that would allow Centerville resident Julian Larrouy to rebuild the Centerville Bar.

The zoning on the parcel the bar sits on is zoned agricultural. Planning commissioners voted 4-2 in favor of the change, but required a fifth vote to approve the change to the master plan.

There may be some movement on the Gardnerville Wal-Mart front. We understand a billboard on a 66-acre parcel owned by the Washoe Tribe is going to be removed to make way for a major construction project. The site is located between Highway 395 and Pinenut Road, kitty-cornered from the 7-Eleven. We've called tribal and Wal-Mart officials, but haven't heard back yet.

It's already breezy this morning with a cold front coming through Carson Valley today.

The National Weather Service said winds of 15-39 mph with gusts up to 55 mph will roll through the Valley until 11 a.m. today. The wind is bringing a cold front with it that will slightly cooler temperatures and a chance of rain on Friday.

At sunrise the temperature is 53 degrees and the barometer is falling. There's a high wind warning through Washoe Valley and no high-profile vehicles are allowed.
