Victim identified in Stateline killing

Two men are expected to be charged with murder and conspiracy in connection with the apparent stabbing death of a 23-year-old housekeeper Sunday at a Stateline casino.

Ramiro Valasquez Galicia, 35, was arrested Sunday in South Lake Tahoe and is expected to be charged with first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping and conspiracy. He is in custody in El Dorado County Jail awaiting extradition to Douglas County.

Evan Garcia, 23, is expected to be charged with accessory to murder and conspiracy. He is in custody in Douglas County Jail in Minden.

The victim was identified as Jazmin Gonzalez, 22, an employee of the housekeeping department at the Horizon Hotel and Casino.

Gonzalez was described as an estranged domestic partner of Galicia.

Her stabbed and battered body was discovered Sunday afternoon in a hotel room at the casino.

An autopsy was performed by the Washoe County Coroner's Office early Monday. An exact cause of death was not released, but officials said there was evidence of blunt force trauma and stab wounds.
