Boosted by record-breaking seasons and strong offensive and defensive efforts on several different playing venues, the Douglas fall sports programs hauled in a number of Sierra League awards for 2006.

Soccer standouts Morgan LeFever and Mike Gransbery led the way after punching in a combined 55 goals on the year.

LeFever was named the girls' soccer Sierra League Midfielder of the Year, despite playing most of the year at forward, after scoring a state record 26 goals on the season, pushing her to another state record with 56 for her career.

Gransbery was named the boys' soccer Sierra League Offensive Player of the Year after scoring 29 goals on the year and breaking the school record with 60 goals for his career.

Boys' soccer coach Milko Vasquez was named the Sierra League co-coach of the year, along with Carson's Jason Koop.

For the girls, sophomore defender Tina Dantin earned the team's only other first-team all-league mention.

Katie Nalder, Krista Anderson, Ally Freitas, Delaney Battista, Allison Andraski and Jamie Greer all earned second-team all-league nods and Lisa Christen earned an honorable mention.

For the boys, forward Michael Barnes, midfielders Oscar Gonzalez and Eddie Vega and defender Kyle Mannschreck each earned first-team recognition.

Freshman Edgar Arceo and defender Ross Gardner earned second-team honors and Derik Cantley and Jose Alcaraz were given honorable mentions.

Surprisingly, Douglas didn't earn any all-region honors in tennis, despite strong candidates in Robert Shawhan, Cesarina Ceglia and Kristy Jilk.

The Tigers did however get recognition in cross country (Whitney Lindsey, first-team all-region; Taylor Biaggi, second-team all-region) and golf (Michelle Nikkels, all-region honorable mention; freshman Heather Henderson, first-team All-Sierra League, junior Katie Gettman, secon-team All-Sierra League).

In volleyball, Jessica Waggoner brought in first-team all-league honors for her play in the middle and fellow sophomores Megan Mitchell and Taryn Williams each made the second team.
