Basketball: CVMS seventh-graders hold off late run by Pau-Wa-Lu

The Carson Valley Middle School seventh-grade boys' basketball team jumped out to an early 10-2 lead against cross-valley rival Pau-Wa-Lu Tuesday afternoon and cruised from there.


That wasn't before the Panthers were able to put together a late 12-4 run to pull back within 13 as the Tigers won 43-30.


The Tigers got balanced scoring from Matt Wylie and Connor Hughes and Nick Maestretti dished out some nice assists along the way.


Adrian Duenas, Ethan Schultz, Jake Tessman, K.C Green, James TenBroeck and Zack Logan all got on the board for the Tigers as well.


Fillmore had 15 points to lead the Panthers, including eight in the fourth quarter alone while Cody Begovich, Michitarian, Kleiner and Worth all got on the board as well for the Panthers.


In the eighth-grade matchup, Carson Valley rolled to victory after jumping out to a 23-6 lead in the first quarter.


The Tigers got scoring from seven different on a 23-4 run.


Aaron Allen, Cody Lommori, Matt Thomas, Austin Neddenreip, Kameron VanWinkle, Garrett Getty and Matt Williams led the charge.
