The R-C Morning Report

It's Family Day, a day government workers and bankers take off and that retail workers dread. Most folks who were going to brave the crowds and go shopping are already on the hunt, hoping to bag a big screen TV or a computer or the Holy Grail, a PS-3. For those of us on the job, it's just another Friday only quieter. The Record-Courier opened at 8 a.m., but since we don't have a sale, there was no one waiting outside.

It's clear and cold this morning with the slightest haze hanging around the river. The temperature was 17 degrees at 8 p.m. and isn't expected to climb much above 50 during the day. It will otherwise be nice today and Saturday, but the Weather Service is predicting we'll have a chance of snow on Sunday and Monday.

The Nevada Highway Patrol is responding to an accident on Highway 50 at the Carson-Douglas line at 7:47 a.m. The road is open and it is not known whether there are any injuries involved.
