Teen basketball league
The Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department is taking registration for the new teen basketball league through Dec. 1 and the season will begin on Jan. 13.
Cost is $65 for ninth- through 12th-grade boys and girls and includes all equipment, official fees, awards and uniforms.
Each team requires a volunteer coach. The department is also continually looking for officials and scorekeepers as well as team sponsors to help reduce the cost to participants.

Wildcats wrestling sign-ups
The Douglas Wildcat youth wrestling will be taking sign-ups for the 2006-07 season Nov. 30 at the Carson Valley Middle School multi-purpose room from 6 to 7 p.m.
The club is open to boys and girls ages 5 and up. Cost is $80 each for the first two children in a family, $60 for the third and $55 each for four or more.
Participants must bring a copy of their brith certificates to the sign-ups.
The season runs from January to March with tournaments all over Northern Nevada on the weekends.
The team practices two to three times a week starting in the first week of December.

Carson Valley Cougars tryouts
The Carson Valley Cougars competitve traveling baseball program will be conducting tryouts for its 14U and 13U squads in early December.
All athletes interested in participating, whether they have played in the program before or not, must have at least one parent or guardian attend one mandatory parent meeting.
Meetings scheduled are at 6:30 p.m. tonight at the Cougar practice facility at 2222 Park Place, building 3, unit A off of Airport Road.
Tryout dates are Dec. 2 and 3 at Stodick Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Dec. 5, 6 and 7 at the Cougar facility from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Dec. 9 and 10 at Stodick Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
To play on the 14-under squad, the cutoff birth date is May 1, 1993. For 13U, it is May 1, 1994 .
The Cougars' season runs from February to July and includes tournaments in Northern California and a trip to College World Series in Omaha, Neb.

Tryouts for the Carson Valley Tigers sixth-grade AAU basketball team will be Dec. 3 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Douglas High School gym.

Old Guys Basketball
Men 35 and older interested in playing pickup basketball are invited to the basketball court in the Pastoral Center at St. Gall Catholic Church every Sunday at 4 p.m. and Wednesday at 7 p.m.
After teams are chosen, games go either full-court or half-court depending on how many show up. The sessions are strictly for fun and exercise.
Cost is $50, which is donated to the church for court upkeep. The sessions run from September to June.
