It's 10 degrees in Genoa and about 12 degrees in Minden, which just makes it pretty darn cold pretty much anywhere you go in Carson Valley. According to the National Weather Service it's going to stay cold for the rest of the week. Today's high temperature is supposed to soar to 28 degrees with the low tonight hitting 12. The temperatures should climb all the way up into the 40s by the weekend.
Gardnerville will be lighting up tonight, Minden on Friday and Genoa on Sunday. And if that's not enough lights for you, the Parade of Lights between Gardnerville and Minden will occur Saturday night. Gardnerville will be lighting its pavilion at 5 p.m. tonight with entertainment by Gardnerville's own Carson Valley Middle School band. The Minden gazebo and tree lighting will be Friday night. The Parade of Lights will begin at 5 p.m. on Saturday at Lampe Park. Genoans will light up their Christmas tree at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
It looks like most road controls are gone for Western Nevada. The only hint of yellow on the map looks like the vicinity of Kirkwood where snow tires or chains are required near Carson Pass. The NHP is reporting no accidents as of 6:54 a.m. today. That could change rapidly, so be careful.
