The much-anticipated debut of the 2006-07 Douglas High boys' basketball season is tonight (Thursday) at South Tahoe at 6 p.m.
The Tigers will be taking on a team out of the Santa Cruz area in the first round of the South Tahoe Invitational.
Douglas enjoyed a solid summer season and has what several opposing coaches have said is the most talented Tiger squad in quite some time.
The Tigers will be led by the front court of Keith Olson (6-10), Jeff Nady (6-6) and Joe Nady (6-7) with solid swingmen Nate Whalin (6-4) and James McLaughlin (6-2) expected to contribute.
Senior guards Mike Gransbery and Jared Trowbridge will be running the offense from the point this season.
The Lady Tigers are in Winnemucca this weekend for the Lowry Invitational, where they will take on the hosting Buckaroos this afternoon (Thursday). They play again on Friday and Saturday.
Douglas' wrestling team, coming off a loss to Carson Wednesday evening in both schools' season-opener, gets the weekend off before hosting Damonte Ranch next Wednesday.
