Douglas took another series of large steps forward over the weekend, turning in strong showings on both the boys' and girls' sides of the Stanford Invitational.

Taylor Biaggi took 16th overall out of 321 female runners and Whitney Lindsey took 22nd to lead the Tiger girls to a 19th-place finish.

"Taylor and Whitney had another fantastic performance," Douglas coach Keith Cole said. "They were very tough today on a very fast course.

"I was really impressed with Taylor and her 'I'm not intimidated' attitude. She went out there and ran against some of the top schools in the nation and showed that she can run with them and that she has the ability to go faster over the course of the race. For Whitney, it is the same. I honestly think that both girls are not yet aware just how fast they can be and it is going to be very exciting to watch them progress as we run toward regionals and state."

Rounding out the strong girls' performance was Skylar Young, who took 133rd overall, freshman Sara Mangiaracina taking 163rd and Anna Chiapella taking 174th.

Junior Cassie Hood ran the course in 22:21, coming in just two seconds behind Chiapella and freshman Michelle Lampson came in at 23:50.

On the boys' side, senior Spencer Lewis ran the course in 16:54 to break the school mark at the course, taking 53rd out of 270 runners. As a team the boys' finished 23rd.

"Spencer got out fast and ran tough the whole race," Cole said. "He led the boys' team today and has really put himself in a great position as we come into the late stages of the season."

David Williams took 67th overall, running the course in 17:02 and Derrik Jenkins took 160th, finishing in 18:04. Seth White wasn't much further behind, finishing in 18:20.

"David, Seth and Derrik all had great runs and really packed together well," Cole said.

Corey Trujillo finished the course in 18:52, Scott Lococo finished in 18:54 and Charlie Cross finished in 19:25.

"My biggest surprise for the boys was Scott Lococo," Cole said. "As a freshman, and his first time running at sea level, his time was awesome.

"He is only going to get stronger as he gets older and I am very excited about his prospects for the remainder of this season and the ones to come."
