Twelve swim teams, along with the Douglas Dolfins and several inattached swimmers competed in the Autumn Freeze Invitational held Sept. 29 through Oct. 1 at the Carson Valley Swim Center.
Douglas swimmers swam very fast and were competitive against the field of athletes that included teams from Reno, South Lake Tahoe, Carson, Aquasol, Fallon, Placerville, Santa Clara, Lakeridge, Sparks, Fernley, Central Valley and Glen Oaks.
In the 6-under age group, Savannah Stewart took second place in the 25 breast stroke and the 25 free and raced the a third-place finish in the 50 free. she also improved nine seconds in the 25 back.
In 8-under, Allison Ansel swam the 25 breat and the 25 free and Lindsey Johnston swam the 100 IM, 50 breast and 50 free. Shelby Koontz took first place in the 25 fly and second place in the 100 free, 50 breast and 50 free.
Competing in the 9-10 age group, Erica Chappell took third place in the 200 IM and improved her times in four out of five races.
Luke Falanga swam the 100 back, 50 breast and 50 free, dropping 12 seconds off the latter.
Logan Killion swam 100 percent best times in his six events and Shaelin Morefield raced to two best times as well as a first place in the 200 IM, 50 fly and 100 fly.
She also earned two second and four third place finishes.
Alisha Ross swam to best times in both of her events.
In the 11-12 age group, Sam Ansel competed in three events. Taylor Chandler improved her times in three out of six events. Kyle Johnston swam four events with a best time in the 50 breast and Taylor Killion had a great meet with five out of eight best times.
John McRae placed third in the 500 free and had an outstanding meet with time improvements in eight of his nine events.
Cameron Morefield swam the 400 IM for the first time and took first place, improved his time in the 50 back and swam strong in all eight of his events. Meagan Skilling had a great meet with seven out of 10 best times, including the 500 free.
Competing in the 13-14 age group, Christopher Bergstrom raced his way to four second-place finishes and five time improvements.
Anna Jackson competed in seven events and did very well in the 100 free. Molly Lahlum competed in five events including the 100 butterfly. Shawn Stubnar swam two best times and placed in the top eight in four events.
Ben Syang placed third in the 500 free and earned six new best times.
Haley Von Schottenstein competed in four events, placing in the top eight in two events.
In the 15-18 age group, Virginia Evans had an excellent meet with nearly 100 percent best times and a huge time drop in her 500 free.
Marco Hyman took second place in the 500 free and third in the 400 IM.
He swam well in all nine events with time drops in two races.
Blake Maxwell had an excellent 200 free and Mandy Moore competed in the 200 free and 100 fly.
Katie O'Neill took a first place in the 200 fly, second in the 400 IM and 100 fly and third in the 100 and 200 backstroke. She also dropped time in four out of six events.
Cassie Parr swam well in all seven of her events and improved times with a big drop in the 100 free.
Josefina Sigala placed in the top three in all seven of her events, taking first in the 400 IM and the 200 breast. Sara Sigala competed in five events, placing in the top eight in four events.
Whitney Simpson raced in seven events and had a good meet with a fourth-place finish in the 500 free. Sean Vogl competed in the 100 back, 100 free, 100 breast and 50 free. Ben Weiss also swam the 100 and 50 free events.
Douglas next races in Reno Oct. 27-29.
