The Minden Fortnightly Club is the oldest service club in the Carson Valley, having been in continuous operation since 1910. The group consists of 35 dedicated women who have always worked for the betterment of the community.

Each year they have hosted a fundraiser to support various projects in the community. The money from their 2005 fundraiser helped support the Douglas High School Scholarship program, Girl's State, the Carson Valley Historical Society, Carson Valley Community Food Closet, Austin's House, Family Support Council of Douglas County, Fortnightly Outreach Program, and the Douglas County Elementary School's Literacy Program, the City of Refuge, Project School Days and the V&T Railroad as well as the MEFIYI Youth Organization. In addition the club is a significant supporter of the historic CVIC Hall.

This year the fundraiser, a traditional event to begin the holiday season, will be 7 p.m. Nov. 17 at the CVIC Hall in downtown Minden. The program includes an auction, a silent auction and raffle prizes. The items are food and crafts made by the members or donations from businesses in the community. There will be a complimentary hors d'oeuvre bar and desert bar served to guests, including a champagne interlude.

They would appreciate a donation from you. Appropriate donations can include gift certificates for your goods or services, holiday decorations, gift baskets, etc. The guests attending, as well as the community, will be informed of your generosity.
