Both the boys' and girls' tennis teams at Douglas High ran into powerhouse Galena Tuesday afternoon in the first round of the Northern 4A Regional team tennis playoffs.
Both Galena squads picked up 16-2 victories in south Reno, ending Douglas' collective team seasons.
Robert Shawhan won two matches for the Tiger boys, improving his season record to 27-3. He is virtually assured one of the top three seeds entering the Northern 4A Regional individual championships next week.
On the girls' side, Douglas picked up wins from Sam Barns and Patty Salazar.
Each squad has qualified two singles spots and two doubles spots in next week's regional playoffs.
Trevor Mitchell and Josh Vega have an outside shot at earning one of the eight doubles' seeds out of the Sierra League on the boys' side.
On the girls' side, Kristy Jilk and Cesarina Ceglia have a chance to claim one of the top eight doubles' spots.
The regional playoffs will be at the Plumas Tennis Courts in Reno Thursday, Friday and Saturday of next week.
