The Douglas girls' golf came puts the wraps on its breakthrough 2006 regular season, taking fourth at the Sierra League meet at Lake Tahoe Tuesday and finishing third overall in league play.
First-year player Katie Gettman shot a 100 to lead the Tigers Tuesday, followed by Michelle Nikkels (101), Heather Henderson (108), Kristin Wyatt (124), Katelyn Lee (127) and Rachel Merino (138).
"The course played extremely difficult," Douglas coach Steve Gustafson said. "Putting these greens was difficult - by far the trickiest greens of the season.
"The mountain conditions make judging speed difficult. Every player struggled with this. On average, most players across the league shot 10 to 15 strokes higher than any other match this season."
Douglas finished third in league behind Reno (1st) and Carson (2nd).
The Tigers had five players finish in the top 25 in terms of Nevada Cup points with Henderson taking fifth, Nikkels finishing eighth, Gettman taking 12th, Katelyn finishing 20th and Merino taking 23rd.
"I can't say enough about these girls," Gustafson said. "They are awesome. They have great practices and have developed a real passion for the game."
Douglas will compete as a team in next week's Northern 4A Regional Tournament.
