Linda K. Anderson


1941-2006


Linda K. Anderson, 64, a Gardnerville resident since 1994, died in Carson City on Sept. 29, 2006.


Mrs. Anderson was born Oct. 18, 1941, in Lewiston, Idaho, to Jack A. and Myrtle H. (Bergh) Carson. She married John A. Anderson in April of 1960 and lived in East Wenatchee, Wash. before moving to Gardnerville. She was a graduate of Central Kitsap High School in Silverdale, Wash. and she was a homemaker. She enjoyed the Arizona desert, NASCAR Racing, oil painting and water color painting as well as Swedish weaving and other crafts.


She is survived by her husband John A. Anderson of Gardnerville and two daughters Vikki L. Anderson of Rocklin, Calif. and Jheri L. Anderson of Parker, Colo.


Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home in Gardnerville. Cremation to take place at FitzHenry's Crematory in Carson City. Ruth Alyce Foster


1916-2006


Ruth Alyce Foster, 89, a resident of Minden for 15 years, died in Minden Oct. 6, 2006. Mrs. Foster was born Dec. 28, 1916, in Minden, Mich. to Bert Teeple and Ella (Jacobs) Teeple.


She graduated from high school in Deckerville, Mich., in 1933 She attended the University of Michigan-Deckerville campus and attended the Detroit Institute of musical arts where she specialized in dance and drama. She also went to Michigan State College and majored in elementary education. Her home community was one of the principle producers of navy beans in the state and in 1934 she became the first Michigan Bean Queen, a tradition that is still active. As queen, she represented the Michigan Bean Shippers Association in the promotion of their products. In 1984 she was honored and re-crowned Queen Mother of the navy bean for the 50th anniversary of her first beauty contest.


She married Sydney Foster June 1, 1941 in Pigeon, Mich. She was a teacher in a one room rural schools and was a homemaker, also active in drama and stage promotions. She was a member of Carson Valley United Methodist Church in Gardnerville, Michigan Bean Shippers Association and enjoyed travel, family activities and video poker.


She was preceded in death by her brothers, Harry and Don. She is survived by her husband Sydney Foster of Minden; daughter Lynne and son Alan; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her sister Marion Greene and numerous nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law.


Arrangements are in the care of Walton's Douglas County Mortuary with cremation to take place at Walton's Sierra Crematory in Carson City. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Gardnerville church.




Charles S.


"Chuck" Jacobs


1929-2006


Charles S. "Chuck" Jacobs, 77, long-time Gardnerville resident, died Sept. 30, 2006, at his home, surrounded by his family.


Mr. Jacobs was born June 24, 1929, was raised on the family ranch on the Sweetwater River in Wyoming. Horses and cattle were the focus of his younger days, following the rodeo circuit as rider and pickup man. Living with his wife and children in Lander, Wyo., he owned the Union Bar, managed the Noble Hotel and was Stewart for the Elks Club. His passion was people and he never forgot a person's name. In 1970, the family moved to Lake Tahoe where he worked in the casino business. He was casino manager for Barney's when a car accident left him with a serious head injury and disabled. He was cared for at home for the last 22 years by his wife, family and four exceptional care givers, Pedro Leon, Rick Brennen, Mike Cady and Cliff Brewer. Prior to the accident, he loved gardening, especially 200 pound pumpkins, cutting wood in Hope Valley, music and playing cards.


He was preceded in death by his sisters Levis, Louise and Edna. He is survived by his loving wife Shirlee, daughters Shayleen Synder and husband Jim of Loveland, Colo.; Celynn Jacobs and Lyle Beatty of Sparks; son Scott and wife Tonie of Gardnerville, granddaughters Shaye Robbins and Cody Cooper of Colorado, Jenny Johnson and Stephanie Jacobs of Gardnerville, nieces Jerry Harris, Fredna, Barbara, Sandra and Joanne and great grandchildren Makenna, Kyler and Asher.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Kids & Horses Therapeutic Riding Center, a place for people of all disabilities, to feel and enjoy the love of a horse. Beverly Quinn


1923-2006


A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Oct. 14 for Beverly Quinn, 83, who died Oct. 5, 2006, in Reno. Services will be at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.


A resident of Minden since 1980, she was born March 31, 1923, in New York City, N.Y. to Thomas and Elizabeth Wrench. Before moving to Minden she lived in Newberry Park, Calif. She did a lot of Bible studies with various Christian groups. She was married to Edward L. Quinn. She made dolls, quilts, enjoyed tap dancing, crocheting and dogs. She worked 23 years for Los Angeles Police Department as a dispatcher retiring in 1978. She was a member of both the Trinity Lutheran and St. Gall Catholic churches in Gardnerville.


She was preceded in death by her husband Edward L. Quinn, May 20, 1981, and was the last surviving sibling of seven brothers and sisters.


Walton's Chapel of the Valley in Carson City is in care of the arrangements. Burial will be in Mottsville Cemetery.




David Richard Welton


1959-2006


David Richard Welton, 47, died Oct. 1, 2006, at his Dayton home. He was born April 21, 1959, in Lynwood, Calif., to Richard D. and Judith Anne Moore Welton. Previously a resident of Gardnerville for many years, he married Jane (Grondin) Welton in Gardnerville April 26, 2003. He was an electrician and he enjoyed golf, science, hiking and nature.


He was preceded in death by both his parents and grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Jane Welton of Dayton; daughters Katie Welton of Dayton and Danica Welton of Topaz Ranch Estates; step-daughter Sonya Gahn of Massachusetts and step-son Shawn Grondin of Moundhouse; brothers Alex Welton of Colorado and Jeff Welton of Gardnerville; aunt Norma Holland and step-uncle Dale Dunham both of Jacks Valley.


Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Funeral Home in Carson City with cremation to take place at FitzHenry's Crematory in Carson City.
