Minden Village businesses raise funding for Coalition

Earlier this summer, the businesses in Minden Village hosted a chamber business after hours/block party and invited the community to participate in activities for the entire family. The community had the opportunity to visit each business and to receive coupon offers. The businesses offered live music, wine tasting, food, and other activities including face painting, a dunk tank and gymnastics presentations. The community came out in full force, and became better acquainted with the businesses that are located in the Minden Village business complex at Lucerne Street and Highway 395 at the north end of Minden.

In addition to providing the community with an opportunity to socialize and enjoy a wide variety of food, wine, and music, much of the community made donations in support of the Coalition for a Boys & Girls Club in Carson Valley. A check was awarded to the Coalition on Oct. 6.

The efforts of the Coalition will continue with the next event to be held at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Carson Valley Inn. A World Series party sponsored by Carson Valley Inn, EM Explicit Media and MEFIYI will have food, drinks, an auction, raffle, and games. Tickets may be purchased at Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce, Carson Valley Edward Jones' offices, Carson Valley Accounting Services, and Nevada State Bank/Minden. Some well-known baseball stars are scheduled to appear at the event.

As part of the raffle prizes awarded at the Minden Village event, there was one grand prize winner of a shopping spree at Sierra Nevada Trading Company. Somer Lyons, will be racing for as many groceries as she can get in her shopping cart in two minutes. Her shopping spree will take place in the next two weeks. Visit the store for exact details.

n The Coalition for a Boys & Girls Club in the Carson Valley is hosting a "Go to Bat World Series Party" noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the CVIC Hall, Esmeralda Avenue, Minden, with a family autograph session with celebrity guest Major League Baseball players. At 5:15 p.m. a kick-off World Series party at the Carson Valley Inn. Tickets $40 per person must be 21 or older.
