The Douglas High girls' golf team's breakthrough season came to a quiet end Tuesday as the Tigers took eighth at the Northern 4A Regional championships at Wolf Run Golf Club in Reno.

Playing in wet and windy conditions, the Tigers shot a 1129 as a team over the two-day event.

Michele Nikkels shot a 191 to take 18th overall and junior Katie Gettman shot a 211 to take 33rd.

Katelyn Lee shot a 234, Kristin Wyatt shot a 242 and Rachel Merino finished with a 251.

Freshman Heather Henderson, who shot a 100 on the first day, was unable to finish on the second.

Douglas didn't have any seniors on its roster this season as it rolled to a third-place finish in the Sierra League and even beat traditional powers Reno and Carson at one league tournament.
