Firefighters responded to a pre-dawn barn fire Tuesday morning just off Orchard Road.

The fire sent flames shooting into the air and was visible across the Carson Valley.

Firefighters arrived on scene at about 7:10 a.m. as the fire was cutting into the attic.

The 1,400-square-foot barn was full of hay.

The fire is under investigation.

Volunteers from around the Valley, including Minden, Fish Springs, Genoa and Ruhenstroth, were called in to fight the blaze at 1581 Broken Arrow Road. Firefighters had to pull all the hay out of the barn to douse the fire. They stopped the blaze at the attic.

No cause of the fire has been announced.

The home belongs to the Ferrey Trust, according to the Douglas County Assessor's Office.
