It didn't take the Coleville Wolves long to shake off the rust from a week off, scoring on their first two drives to take a 14-0 lead over the heavily-favored Eureka Vandals.
Jason Peters capped the opening five-play drive with a seven-yard touchdown run to take the early lead.
Eureka fumbled at midfield on its first drive, setting up Coleville's second drive.
Following a 37-yard reverse from Javi Pace, Peters connected with Erik Stevens on a six-yard touchdown pass.
Unfortunately for the Wolves, Eureka regrouped an took control of the game, scoring 32 unanswered points.
Coleville made a run at the Vandals, closing to within four points early in the fourth quarter before Eureka put the game out of reach scoring two late touchdowns.
Peters led the Wolves with 86 yards rushing and one touchdown run.
Peters also threw for three touchdowns and ended with 125 yards passing.
Stevens was on the receiving end of all three touchdown passes and led Coleville with 54 receiving yards.
Matt Carothers rushed for one touchdown and collected 21 yards rushing.
Pace rushed for 45 yards and caught two passes for nine yards.
Trevor Anderson caught three passes for 47 yards.
Defensively, the Wolves were led by Carothers with eight solo tackles and 13 assists.
Peters had six solos and seven assists and Sean Sherlock had four solos and four assists.
"I was proud of the way we came back in the second half," Coleville coach Will Sandy said. "It looked like we were finished at halftime.
"I thought we played well enough to win offensively but didn't do a very good job defensively. Our tackling was awful at times."
Coleville (3-5, 0-1) plays its last game of the season Saturday at McDermitt with a 1 p.m. kickoff.
