Bar BQ Boyz at Backroads

The local band, the Bar BQ Boyz, will perform at the grand opening of Backroads Bar & Grill 8 p.m. to midnight Nov. 4. Backroads, open for the last couple of weeks, is at 224 Meridian Blvd., Minden. The Bar BQ Boyz plays bluegrass, classic rock, country and reggae. Information, 782-3766.

Rhymers Rodeer coming

The 19th annual Rhymers Rodeer will be in the Carson Valley Inn's Shannon Ballroom on Nov. 3-4. Jim King, Jim Parsons and Ron Brinegar will provide the rhyme, trail tales and stories. Performers include Juni Fisher, the Academy of Western Artists 2005 Female Western Vocalist of the Year and McAvoy Layne in his Mark Twain character. Tickets for Friday's show are $23 with no-host cocktails at 6:30 p.m. and the show starting at 7:30 p.m. Saturday's dinner show is $48 with no-host cocktails at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:15 p.m. and show time at 7:45 p.m. An open mic session will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. Fall Comedy Weekend

Headliner Rocky Laporte, feature performer Scott Fontecchio and host/producer Kat Simmons will combine their talents for a Fall Comedy weekend with shows in the Carson Valley Inn Shannon Ballroom on Nov. 10 and 11.
