With 127 entrants, the fifth stage of the Northern Nevada Junior Satellite tournament series was held at both the Carson High School and Centennial Park courts in Carson City recently.

After a long layoff, Nikki Villoria, 18, demolished the competition and took the girls' 18 crown.

Amelia Ritger, 13, looking for tougher matches, moved up into the girls' 16 division and managed to come away with a 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 victory in the finals.

James TenBroeck, 12, came close to getting into the finals of the boys' 18. In the semifinals, he played Orion Ashmore of Carson, and lost a 5-7, 6-7 (3-7 tiebreaker) slugfest.

Trevor Mitchell and Josh Vega lost to the No. 1-seeded doubles team 1-6, 3-6 in the 18s.

In the first round of his first tournament, Garon Athanacio, 12, lost 4-6, 4-6 in the boys' 12 division. Seven disputable calls were a deciding factor in this loss.

Kari TenBroeck, 11, had a rare off day and lost in the second round of the girls' 14 bracket.

Sara Bleakney, 11, ran into a tough first-round opponent and lost 3-6, 0-6.

Nick Goodner, 8, again played up in the boys' 12 to gain some higher level experience.
