A Trinidad magistrate ordered that David Winfield Mitchell be extradited in the 1982 murder of Miss Douglas County Sheila Harris.

Mitchell still has two weeks to appeal the decision in Trinidad, according to a story appearing in this morning's Nevada Appeal.

The 60-year-old retired night watchman was linked to the case early on, but there wasn't sufficient evidence to hold him. Improvements in DNA technology may prove to be Mitchell's undoing.

Genoans are meeting tonight to discuss expanding the town's boundaries north and east.

Also on the menu for the 7 p.m. meeting is a request to reduce the speed limit in town to 15 mph where it is not otherwise posted.

The Genoa Town Board meets in the Town Hall.

Gardnerville's Town Board will also be meeting at 4:30 p.m. today in the town offices. The agenda contains mostly annual updates, but board members will briefly discuss annexation of 87 acres for Greg Painter's new project, The Ranch at Gardnerville. The property is the former Anker-Park subdivision and was included in the master plan as a development zone.

Long-range forecasts say September is going to be warm and dry and there's nothing in the coming days to argue with that.

Today the high temperatures will be in the lower 90s again with the Washoe Zephyr kicking up winds around 20 mph in the late afternoon.

There's a slight chance of thunderstorms toward the middle of the week. The tomatoes should be safe for another week, since the low temperatures are staying north of 40 through the week, according to the National Weather Service.
