Playing on the most difficult course the team will see this season, the Douglas High girls' golfers responded with a fourth-place finish in its Sierra League tournament at Wildcreek Golf Course Tuesday afternoon.
"Wildcreek was the most difficult course we will play this year," Douglas coach Steve Gustafson said. "It's long, has lots of water and has lots of elevation change."
Even so, the Tigers managed to place three golfers in the top ten at the tournament.
Sophomore Michele Nikkels shot a 96 to take third overall for the second consecutive week.
Freshman Heather Henderson shot a 98 to take fifth overall and junior Katie Gettman, a first-year player, shot an impressive 100 to take eighth overall.
Katelyn Lee shot a 131 and Rachel Merino shot a 133 to round out the Tigers' scoring.
Reno High School won the event with a team score of 499, followed by Carson (514), South Tahoe (518) and Douglas.
Reno's Cheyenne Gott shot an 88 to take individual medalist honors.
Douglas is operating with just enough players to fill a scorecard in the league matches, but should be in good shape to continue vying for a playoff spot if it can continue to finish in the top four teams.
