Tigers improve to 6-0

Heading into Saturday's match against rival Carson, the Douglas boys' soccer team is riding a pretty strong wave of momentum.

The Tigers, ranked No. 2 in the most recent Sierra Nevada Sports Media Poll, improved to 6-0 on the year with a 3-0 win over McQueen in Reno Wednesday afternoon.


Mike Gransbery scored his 10th and 11th goals of the season to put Douglas up early off assists from Michael Barnes and Kyle Mannschreck.


Gransbery upped his career total to 42.

Kyle Gardner hammered home the games final goal before the end of the first half on Barnes' fourth assist of the year.


Andrew Andraski picked up the shutout in net for the Tigers and coach Milko Vasquez said Oscar Gonzalez and Derik Cantley played well at midfield and defense, respectively, while Ray Kaffer and Geoff Rahe had solid games as well.

Cole Cline scored on an assist by Christian Salazar to lead Douglas to a 1-0 win over McQueen.


The Tigers improved to 1-0-1 on the year as freshman Corbin Zumpft posted the shutout.


Bill Sunderland, Ben Wood, Fabian Ramos and Darren Vega played well defensively and Brian Randall, Luke Prinz and Austin Schick were strong contributors in the midfield.
