Smith Valley resident among public safety graduates

After 25 weeks of instruction, cadets from the Department of Public Safety Academy will graduate 10 a.m. Friday, at the Nevada National Guard Armory at 2460 Fairview Drive in Carson City.

Birdella Gibson of Smith Valley will be one of the graduates and continue on to Parole and Probation in Reno.

The DPS academy curriculum includes accident investigation, use of force, defensive tactics, communication skills, "survival Spanish," first responder training, search and seizure, traffic law, DUI, firearms training and cross training for DPS division specific instruction.
