While summer isn't due to end until Sept. 22, the Carson Valley will get a little taste of fall starting Thursday.

Today temperatures will continue to be warm with a high in the 90s and the low in the upper 40s. If this storm pans out it will be breezy and warm in the morning as the weather system pushes all the warm air in front of it and then temperatures will start to drop.

The National Weather Service is issuing a red flag fire warning due to predicted 40 mph winds, gusting to 50 mph in some places. Temperatures will drop an estimated 20 degrees and the snow level north of I-80 is expected to drop to 5,000 feet in places.
