The Douglas girls' tennis team hasn't wasted any time breaking in the Northern 4A's new tiebreaker system.

Through their first five matches, they've played three tiebreakers and in each instance they've come out on top.

Douglas took a 4-2 tiebreaker victory over North Tahoe after the teams played to a 9-all tie in Minden Tuesday afternoon.

Douglas was without its No. 1 singles player, who was out with an illness, but the doubles' roster carried the day.

Kristy Jilk and Cesarina Ceglia continued their stong play together, taking three dominating 6-0 victories for the Tigers.

Sarah Barnhill and Lauren Seymour teamed up to win their three matches in solid fashion and Madison VanderByl was a part of three doubles victories, teaming with Sophie Lyles to win one and Amanda Lugone to win two more.

The doubles' squads won the three tiebreaker matches, and Morgan Barone was able to come back to win her tiebreaker match after a tough first-round loss to North Tahoe's Laura Robinson.

BOYS

Douglas had little trouble disposing of North Tahoe to pick up its first road victory of the season.

The Tigers got six points from default wins alone and Robert Shawhan improved his record to 13-1 on the year with a 6-1 win in the first round.

The Doubles teams of Trevor Mitchell-Josh Vega, Spike Neri-Andrew Soloman and John McLaughlin-Kevin Sacherman took turns beating up on North Tahoe's lone doubles squad to the tune of 6-1, 6-1 and 6-2 respectively.

Mitchell and Vega are now 10-2 on the year.
