County observes Constitution week

In an annual celebration of Constitution Week, Douglas County commission Chairman Jim Baushke, along with commissioner David Brady presented a proclamation in observance of the United States Constitution to Janet Hawkins a member of the John C. Fremont Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

The county observed Constitution Week on Sept.14 with an employee event in Minden Park at which District Attorney Scott Doyle was the keynote speaker.

As proclaimed by the Douglas County Board of Commissioners that Sept. 17-23 is designated as Constitution Week and urge all citizens in Douglas County to recognize the importance of this document and participate in its observance.

The U.S. Constitution was signed on Sept. 17, 1787. Sunday was the 219th anniversary the constitution's signing.

Federal law requires that schools receiving federal funding hold educational programs on the Constitution.
