Begin your journey back in time at Heritage Park as Gardnerville celebrates Old Town Days Oct. 7-8. Experience the life of the Civil War soldier, his camp and his battles.
The weekend event begins with "School Days" on Friday, Oct. 6, a time reserved for local school tours and a chance for students to see history re-enacted before their eyes.
Oct. 7
The living history camps will be open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with this schedule of events:
n 7-10 a.m. - Lions Club breakfast $5
n 8-11 a.m. - Borges Carriages hay rides
n 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. - Brockfield pony rides
n 10:30-11 a.m. - Civil War battle
n Noon to 12:30 p.m. - Civil War melodrama
n 1-1:30 p.m. - Civil War battle
n 1-5 p.m. - Lions Club barbecue $6
n 3 p.m. - David John and the Comstock Cowboys
n Dusk - Civil War battle
n 8 p.m. - Civil War Ball at Sharkey's Casino. Dress in costume
Oct. 8
n 8 a.m. - Church service on the battlefield
n 10-10:30 a.m. - Civil War battle
n Noon to 12:30 p.m. - Ladies tea at the Union Camp
n 1:30-2 p.m. - Civil War battle
n 3 p.m. - Camp breakdown
