The Coleville Wolves fell to the visiting Lee Vining Tigers 39-28 Saturday.
Although Coleville led the total yardage battle 363-269, two turnovers, penalties, a dropped touchdown pass and poor defensive execution were keys to the Wolves' third loss of the season.
Freshman quarterback Jason Peters had another monster offensive day, leading the Wolves with 215 yards rushing and 80 yards passing.
Peters had one touchdown rushing and passed for two more. Tight end Erik Stevens had his best game of the season, catching five passes for 56 yards, one touchdown and two conversion receptions.
Wingback Trevor Anderson found the end zone twice, scoring on an 11-yard run and a 15-yard pass.
Defensively, the Wolves were led by Matt Carothers with six solo tackles and 12 assists.
Sean Sherlock had one solo and 12 assists, Colton Ward had one solo and nine assists and Will Goode had one solo and 10 assists.
"Take nothing away from a very scrappy Lee Vining team (3-0), but you can't win if you continually self-destruct on offense and fail to execute on defense," Coleville coach Will Sandy said. "Our lack of discipline on both sides of the ball is killing us. Lee Vining played a great game and deserved to win."
