Record of service: Former prosecutor in the U.S Attorney's office; served as Chief of Staff to former Nevada Governor Bob Miller; served as Assistant County Manager in Clark County; worked as a civil litigator representing the right of businesses and individuals; and was a law clerk in the Eighth Judicial District Court. Admitted to the State Bar of Nevada in 1990; the U.S. District Court, District of Nevada in 1991; and the U.S. Court of Appeals, for the Ninth Circuit in 1994.
Platform: We must do more to protect the citizens of Nevada. And I am running for Attorney General to do just that. For the past 15 years I have made public safety a top priority in my career. When I worked as a civil litigator, I protected the rights of businesses and individuals. When I served as a prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney's office, I prosecuted drug dealers and protected victims from batterers and stalkers. I've also served Nevada's best interests as a leader in the top levels of state and local government - from Governor Bob Miller's Chief of Staff to Assistant County Manager in Clark County, where I led the justice community.
As a native Nevadan, I want to ensure that all Nevadans have a positive quality of life. I will protect the financial integrity of businesses and citizens by reducing the high incidence of identity theft; fight methamphetamine use and distribution; seek justice for victims of domestic violence; advocate on behalf of children to protect them from sexual predators and those who choose to exploit them; combat elder abuse, neglect and exploitation; continue reforms to the juvenile justice system; fight to protect state rights and preserve the integrity of our public institutions. I will also ensure that the office has the resources, training, and expertise necessary to effectively represent the state agencies, boards and commissions that serve the public. I believe in access to justice and in defending the rights of all Nevadans.
I am proud to have received the endorsement of the men and women who serve our communities as public safety professionals including the Nevada Conference of Police & Sheriffs, the Professional Firefighters of Nevada, Nevada State Law Enforcement Officers' Association and the Peace Officers' Research Association of Nevada.
