As I sit down this morning to write this article I find my brain just will not engage. The events of this week have just seemed to overwhelm my thoughts for writing. Yet as my fingers dance across the keyboard, I find myself drawn to some important words of our Lord Jesus.
When many people were abandoning Jesus because his teachings were too tough, he looked at his men and asked them; "Are you all going to leave too?"
It was Peter who said:
n John 6:68-69 - "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God."
"Words of eternal life" are found in the one who came from God, Jesus the Messiah, the Lord. So for this week's article, without comment, I have given you some of the most amazing things Jesus said:
n Matthew 5:6 - "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled."
n Matthew 6:19-21 - "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
n Mark 12:29-31 - "The most important one ... is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these."
n John 3:3 - "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again ."
n John 3:16-18 - "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.
n Revelation 1:17-18 - "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades."
The words of Jesus, of course he taught many other things, most are recorded within the Bible. I trust you will take time to find out for yourself who Jesus is and what he is all about. I must agree with Peter, a man who lived with Jesus and knew well, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life."
